24hrs to go!

This time tomorrow I will be huffing and a puffing in Cornwall! Car temperature 37C, office temp 41C! I'm cream cracked just traveling on the tube in town today so once again I wonder what on earth I've let myself in for. Was going to request something on the Chris Evans show but now run out of time so if there are any avid bloggers out there with a bit of spare time please feel free. I was thinking of Pink Floyd 'Comfortable Numb'
Next update we be on the move
Bye you avid bloggers!

2 days to go:
Headless chicken springs to mind! Last minutes panic, sun cream factor 50 purchased as heat wave predicted and only 33C in London today. Another check up at the Dr's and blood pressure exactly where it should be [can't remember where that is so if you don't know you need to get checked out yourself!]
Staples have printed off some cards to give away on the route so a big thank you to them for taking 50% off the bill.
Tex if you are reading this checked out your boat yesterday and no problems, didn't run the engine but everything else ok me old handsome.
Farewell avid bloggers, only one day to go

5 days to go
Well its coming faster than a steam train and its going to be a heat-wave next week [according to the weather man last night anyway] or worse it could be poring. Bit like sailing, never enough wind or to much of the stuff.
Purchased my sudocream today so if it doesn't do the trick I shall blame you Paul M. Doesn't t say anything on the jar about bike saddle sores but I suppose nappy rash must be close or even more unpleasant. Lunch with an old mucker today as well, thanks Kev, burning so not much training going on and it looks like I shall be burning the midnight oil to clear the decks before the off. Intend on the ride itself to give each day a score out of 10 so if you see 1/10 you will be able to guess what an awful day I have had or it could be just Sooty I suppose. Must dig him out of the cupboard, it would be tragic to leave him behind.
Back to work

Thursday: 6 days to go
Well avid blogger this time next week we will be on the road either getting sunburnt or a soaking. I seem to be very busy at work and trying to fit everything in is becoming difficult. Haven't had time yet to buy an extra large jar of vaseline! Thanks for reading and I appericate your support.
PS So does Sooty

8 Days to go
Well avid reader and I know that there is at least one of you out there or should I say up there near Liverpool! Yes I know I'm barking but ce la fait [is that right] as they say. No training today, to busy with work and Claire's mum broke her wrist last week and we had to pay a visit.
Must get some more miles in tomorrow
Ao revoir as they say in Portsmouth

Time is going by to quickly! Must get out on the practice run as Sunday spent recovering from our efforts in the Round The Island Race. Bike has now been serviced so hopefully no problems en route. NOt much else to say at present

14 Days to go

Reminds me a little of a Johnny Cash record, 6 foot high and rising or something like that. Well avid followers of my blog I am humbled by the great response for my chosen charity, Help For Heros. Thanks again if you have coughed up, its a worthy cause.
Bike is in for a once over before the off and I'm trying to clear the decks work wise to hopefully ensure I'm not trying to work en route. Unlikely but thats the pleasure or pain whichever way you look at it working for yourself. Off this weekend in the Round the Island Race so no practice until Sunday or Monday. Not sure if racing around the Isle of Wight in a yacht will keep the blood pressure down or up. Most likely up from past experiences.

15 days to go

ECG today and no problems. Discussed the ride with the Dr and all systems go but they have me scheduled for a check up just before the off.

Oh well back to the lycra and the hill that I have built into my daily [should be but I have missed a couple just lately] ride. Must get Sooty checked out, he's looking a bit yellow!

Monday 15 June 2009

Ah! a problem. Went to the docs today [16 days to go] and need to get my blood pressure down! She is not keen that I do the ride so I have to make some decisions! Its not so much the pressure being to high but the family history that has put the, excuse the pun, the spoke in the wheel!

Still training though so fingers crossed. If I don't ride I will bring up the rear in the support vehicle, not at all what I had in mind.

20 Days to go

No training yesterday just to busy with work etc. Not good at all and the off is fast approaching. Must fit in a long ride today as bike going in for a servicing and we are busy all weekend. Sooty is also getting anxious!!

Tuesday 9 June 2009

21 Days to the off

Panic is now setting in. Will I make it or not? What will people think if I don't make it. Lets hope its not to hot, to cold , to windy or raining.

Two hopes and one of them died a few years ago!

Pre Start

Well not sure how this works but I understand that I am now blogging! Three weeks to the off and suddenly I have a feeling that perhaps I should have done a little more training. Bike going into the shop for a once over on Friday so hopefully it shouldn't let me down. I must have been barking to listen to Alan F when he suggested a little ride from one end of England to the top of Scotland!

Must find out how the world gets to see all this. Back to the drawing board

Regards to all
