Day 4
I have come to the conclusion that life is NOT a bowel of cherries. Its a sore bottom, aching legs, aching shoulders, aching hands, and an obession with time and the speedo on the bike! One hour is 10 miles.
We were up at 5.30 this morning and on the road at 6.30 to Alan's house in South Cerney for an overnight stop. Is this a good idea I wonder? We arrived 70 miles later at 13.45 so it has felt like a holiday this afternoon. I did have a relapse this morning but after a quick 5 min power nap beside the road and a drink of coke it was back on the bike. Alan's speedo had stopped working so off to the bike shop this afternoon with me driving the car. What a wonderful invention. I had a good soak and an hours sleep while Alan fitted the new speedo and tried to sort his gears out. Claire has driven down today, thanks for putting up with and supporting my madcap ideas Claire, and we are being joined for dinner tonight by Sheila and Dave. Dave joins us tomorrow in a support role. Thanks Dave and we look forward to some of your Jethro jokes along the way. Not a bad ride today as only a couple of lung busters and then mainly flat. Thanks for the call this morning Matthew and enjoy your hammock in the sun. Good luck to the young man getting married today who we met at breakfast this morning. I did offer him my bike to escape but he rufused. Hello to the lady in the Burger King who said she would log on to follow our progress and thanks Molly for looking after us so well tonight.
